About
Jukebox:Metal is the heavy rock and metal specialist site which evolved from Jukebox. Jukebox itself was founded in 2002 by Vikki Roberts, who remained editor until December 2007. During that time the site grew on a consistent basis, taking a major step in its evolution in 2005 when it started acquiring media label partners to expand the range of music it handled and adding new features and services like the Festivals Details pages, competitions and the mailing list. In February 2007 the site underwent a huge relaunch.
For much of this time Andy Lye had been the rock and metal editor for Jukebox, and he took over as editor in January 2008, launching Jukebox:Metal in the process. The main aim of this was to offer a more focused service to heavy metal music and to free up Jukebox to maintain its multi-genre appeal without too much of one specific genre taking over. Jukebox eventually closed in 2009.
Jukebox’s reputation was one of in-depth reviews and, like it’s parent site, Jukebox:Metal aims to match it.
