Sister Sin – True Sound of The Underground

Swedes Sister Sin have been steadily releasing CDs since their formation in 2003, but many of these are now unavailable and did not see wide-spread release. Even their debut album on Sleaszy Rider Records can only be found on import. But now on their second album for Metal Heaven/Victory Records the band are getting deserved exposure, eventually leading to touring in America. To all intents and purposes Sister Sin sound like Leah Duors (McQueen) singing for U.D.O. or Lordi. There’s even a cover of U.D.O.’s 24/7 here to prove the point. I Stand Alone, Built To Last and several others are pure U.D.O. with angry female rock vocals formed in equal parts by punk rock and sleaze rock, while others apply the same ingredients to riffs that could easily be on a Lordi album. Then of course every now and again, just like most bands in this sub-genre of rock, there’s some clear Mötley Crüe influence, particularly here on Nailbiter and lead single Outrage. There are no ballds, just pure traditional hard rock and metal, and if that’s all you’re looking for you can’t do much better in 2010.
