Man.Machine.Industry – White Trash Devil In A Jesus Christ Pose

Although Man.Machine.Industry began life as an electronica solo project for ex-Slapdash drummer J. Bergman, the project quickly became a fully-fledged band after its first release in 2001 and changed its sound to hard industrial metal by the second album in 2004. Now on their third album, and their first for GMR Music, the industrial sound is fully established, combining strong elements of several notable acts into an individual whole. There is plenty of Marilyn Manson on some of the more twisted vocal melodies in songs like Make The World Sleep The Sleep, Knuckle Duster and Why Heroes Fade Away, but with bigger, harder riffs than he tends to employ, and large doses of Pain (The Hunt) and Emigrate complete the mixture. At The End of The Tunnel mixes Manson vocals with an Emigrate riff, for instance. Besides the highly questionable cover of Iron Maiden‘s Running Free, White Trash Devil In A Jesus Christ Pose is as strong as industrial metal can be in 2010, with huge riffs only Pain can compete with and an anger that doesn’t destroy the melodic aspects of each track, leaving catchy choruses that must thrive in the live environment. At thirteen tracks and 65 minutes the disc is good value too and doesn’t drag for a second.
