Bon Jovi play surprise free set

To mark the beginning of their twelve-show residency at London’s O2 Arena, Bon Jovi played a free four-song set on the structure’s roof this afternoon (June 7) for fans on the ground below.

Broadcast onto the high definition screen in Peninsula Square outside the venue they formally opened in 2007 by being the first band to play there, the set was announced in the free morning newspaper The Metro on the day of the show, and only a few internet sources picked up on the news. This, coupled with the 15:30 start time, meant the turn-out was a lot lower than a Bon Jovi appearance would normally attract, but the select crowd were treated to a spirited performance of two cuts from new album The Circle and two classic tracks as Bon Jovi also became the first band to play on the O2′s roof.

Setlist: We Weren’t Born To Follow / Superman Tonight / You Give Love A Bad Name / It’s My Life
