New York Dolls’ Conte ties-in solo release with tour
New York Dolls guitarist Steve Conte has recorded a solo album with his new backing band The Crazy Truth, and plans to release it to coincide with his main employers’ tour of the UK.
Steve Conte And The Crazy Truth will be released on November 30, three days before New York Dolls kick off their headlining tour in Cambridge on December 2. The album was recorded live in the studio with the whole band playing together on all the songs, and the style is firmly rooted in dirty, bluesy rock ‘n’ roll.
The Crazy Truth consist of drummer Phil Stewart and bassist Leeko, with special guests David Johansen (New York Dolls) on harmonica, Catherine Russell (David Bowie) and Nicki Richards (Madonna) on backing vocals, and Danny Ray (Johnny Thunders), Kiku Collins (Beyonce) Tom Timko (Stevie Wonder) on horns.
