New London classic rock festival

Classic Rock Magazine and Mama Festivals are launching a new classic rock festival in July 2010 with the aim of providing a genuine replacement for the legendary Monsters of Rock festival, with a bill topped by special performances from historic bands.

The festival, branded High Voltage, will be held in Victoria Park, London on July 24 and 25, and will be headlined by ZZ Top and Emerson, Lake And Palmer, who won’t be playing any other shows in 2010. There are hints that it may even be their last ever performance.

The festival will be divided into three stages, each catering for a different sub-genre of rock and ticket holders will be offered the chance to upgrade their ticket package with several options including travel, accomodation, VIP bar access and others.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at £125 for both days, and £65 for each day until December 31, 2009. From January 1, 2010 the prices rise to £130 for the weekend and £75 per day. There will be no booking fee for tickets (but there will be a £5.20-£7.20 “processing” fee for sending ticket holders their barcoded wristbands to be used for entry into the festival), and the upgrade packages will be offered from January 2010 when ticket holders who booked during December 2009 will be given the chance to upgrade.
