Naughty Boys – Destiny Calls

site | label | buy
Although not yet quite as well known as similarly styled countrymen Hardcore Superstar or Crazy Lixx, Naughty Boys have delivered a more consistently classy hard rock album than either of them, and countless others in the same sub-genre. Similarites can be drawn with several established bands, with Naughty Boys’ songs taking the good parts of Europe, Scorpions (Time), old Bon Jovi (ballad Eternity), old Def Leppard if they were heavier (Runaway Train) and Skid Row (Broken), but not, as perhaps their name and image might have suggested, so much Mötley Crüe or Guns N’ Roses. Don’t Turn Around and Light of Day sound like Edguy‘s recent hard rock leanings, Endless Pain and Head Held High are tracks Gotthard should kill to have on their below-average new album, and album closer Fly With The Angels is the kind of refinded rock with fantastic lead guitar that Bon Jovi produced at their very best. This is right up there with Innocent Rosie‘s superb debut as the hard rock album of the year. Hopefully some better distribution than just the MusicBuyMail website will be found, because otherwise it will be disappointingly difficult/expensive to get a copy of this.
