Nasty Idols – Boys Town

site | label | buy

Much like previous album Heroes For Sale (2002) Boys Town leads with two heavy, grooving hard rock tracks in the title track and opening statement of intent Rock Out. And, just like Heroes For Sale, it shares the rest of the album out between equally heavy, grooving rock tracks (Scar For Life, Crashlanding), ballads (Nite Like This), and rock tracks which have a more straight-forward, almost punk-influenced feel. The Almighty could have written Method To My Madness, for instance. But the majority is the good stuff. The kind of heavy sleaze rock they’re known for, delivering the riffs and solos right up to the end of the disc with the excellent, uninterrupted run of 7 Year Itch, Evil One, It’s Not Love and Need The Nite. Some slight re-ordering so as not to close with ballad It Ain’t Easy (the better of the two, and more hints of The Almighty) would probably have been a good idea, but ultimately, with just the one poor song (Nite Like This), this is some of Nasty Idols best material to date.
