Foreigner – No End In Sight: The Very Best of
Produced by Cheryl Pawelski

Just in time for Christmas, coincidentally, No End In Sight is a double-CD compilation of Foreigner’s “very best”, as it says on the cover, in fact.
What there seems to be no end in sight of is constant rehashing of Foreigner compilations. As an avid fan has indeed already pointed out on Amazon, Foreigner have now had more compilation albums on the market than they have original studio albums. Each one updating just one or two tracks on the previous one, with maybe the occasional exclusive.
This one adds very little at all to what was already available via Jukebox Heroes: The Foreigner Anthology and The Definitive Foreigner, both issued by Warner Bros. Records/Rhino Records, both containing two discs of hits, and both running through nearly the same playlist of songs in the same order.
This new version, in the tradition of recent Rhino-issued compilation albums, does feature new remasters of all the album cuts, which do make them all, especially the older ones, sound nice and clear, but this isn’t enough of an improvement for any owners of previous collections to bother with this one. The only extras here are an average brand new song, Too Late, recorded by the current Foreigner line-up, and a previously unreleased live acoustic version of Say You Will from XM radio. Not much of great interest, truth be told, unless of course it transpires that Too Late only ever ends up being available here, just to annoy Foreigner fans.
Anyone interested in Foreigner, who doesn’t own any of the other compilations, may as well go for this one. It will be the most readily available as the others have been dropped from the catalogue to make way for this, and it does at least contain the newly remastered versions of the classic songs. Everyone else may as well just pass on by.
