(hed)p.e. – Insomnia

Subburban Noise
Produced by Jahred

(hed)p.e. have toured with some of the biggest metal bands of the moment. Korn, Static-X and System Of A Down have all had the pleasure of (hed) p.e support. System Of A Down have clearly had a lasting effect on the band.

On Walk On By they are just as happy treading the boards of riff-heavy metal as they are breaking into lounge room easy listening. The results are interesting and in the main, work nicely.

You can count the influences in this album. The forerunner being Rage Against The Machine. Vocalist Jahred is evidently concerned with the more political aspects of living in modern America. He attacks the public school system and consumerism in a way reminiscent of Zak De La Rocha and Public Enemy’s Chuck D. The hip-hop influence is not to be sniffed at and brings another element to an already eclectic mix. Throw into the pot a nice dose of California Punk and you have a band that appears to be capable of mixing it with the best.

Perhaps now is the time for (hed)p.e. to step out from the shadows of the bands that they have supported. This album will certainly appeal to a wider audience.
