Chris Cornell leaves Audioslave
With the other three members of Audioslave reuniting with estranged vocalist Zach De La Rocha in Rage Against The Machine, and Chris Cornell himself releasing a new solo album, Carry On, in May, it has now been announced that Cornell is leaving Audioslave permanently. In a new press release regarding the album Cornell states: “Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.”
After producing undoubtedly their best album, Revelations, last year, ‘musical differences’ comes as somewhat of a surprise, but Cornell clearly has what it takes to continue alone, as his European Top Ten hit single You Know My Name, the main theme song for the movie Casino Royale, proves.
The new album will include a mixture of harder hitting tracks, and bluesy introspective songs, plus a tantalizing cover of Michael Jackson‘s Billie Jean.
Carry On is released in May on Suretone/Interscope Records.
