KoRn – Coming Undone

Virgin Records
Produced by Atticus Ross

The second single from new album See You On The Other Side sees the nu-metal pioneers bringing their hip-hop influences to the fore while losing none of their heavy guitars or anguished lyrics.

After hearing the album this track was a clear front-runner for the second single. It was the only other song on the album that had a slightly anthemic rock-radio chorus like first single Twisted Transistor (the superior of the two songs). So, expect more of the same in terms of the chorus, which will have you pulling off all the nu-metal moves in your repertoire, including pressing your fingers to your temples as you sing as if the angst in the song is actually yours. You know what I’m talking about.

The main rhythm of the song has the same bounce as an Eminem number, but with more impact in the right places. Where Eminem songs have a tendency to simply proceed at the same pace and feel for the duration, Coming Undone uses pauses and silence to create build-up to climax without actually doing a great deal. It’s intelligent song-writing.

The commercial CD-single will include the non-LP b-side Eaten Up Inside which was previously only available on the bonus disc with the special edition of See You On The Other Side. A DVD-single will also be released containing the videos to Coming Undone and Twisted Transistor. Both will be available on June 12.
