Bulgarian Monsters of Rock CANCELLED

Originally due to take place in the coastal town of Varna from August 3 to 7, the Bulgarian edition of the Monsters of Rock Festival has been cancelled because of unreasonable changes to the event imposed by the Mayor of Varna, Kyril Yordanov. A statement from organisers Universal Entertainment stated the Mayor “dramatically changed the terms and conditions of the official authorities that we were familiar with and thus deliberately spoiled the event”.

Apparently Yordanov wanted to ban alcohol at the festival and make the closing time earlier. The organisers have urged fans to file official complaints via the Varna Municipality website and have said that next year the festival will move to Albena.

In an attempt to at least give Bulgaria’s heavy metal fans something to attend, Motorhead, Saxon and Enthrallment, all scheduled to appear at the festival, have been lined up for a one-off gig to be held in Varna on August 3.
