Jorn – Out To Every Nation
Produced by Lande/Lofstad with A. Allendorfer & N. Wasko

The 3rd solo outing from ex-Ark/Beyond Twilight and current Masterplan vocalist Jorn Lande is just about one of the hardest hitting melodic hard rock albums of 2004. Featuring three members of Pagan’s Mind (Jorn Viggo Lofstad on guitars, Stian Kristoffersen on drums and Ronny Tegner on keyboard) and Hammerfall‘s Magnus Rosen on bass, Jorn has assembled a more than capable set of musicians to lay down some seriously good and catchy heavy rock.
Following in the footsteps of previous solo efforts Starfire and Worldchanger, Out To Every Nation kicks in with another superb hard rock riff in the shape of opener Young Forever. All the songs pretty much follow suite after the first one. Heavy riffs with the odd squeal etc. thrown in, blistering solos, reasonably heavy drumming and Jorn’s Coverdale-esque vocals. The lamest of the lyrics come in during Rock Spirit. Example? “Michael wants to rock. All around the clock. You can hear it down the block. That Michael learns to rock”. Oh yes, that’s the chorus. I’m not making it up. Don’t ask who Michael is. I’ve no idea. Schenker, maybe?
Were these songs to be performed by any old hard rock band, they’d sound like any old hard rock song. But they’re being performed by a simply brilliant hard rock band, so the songs sound much better than perhaps they really are. Some of the lyrics, all told, are poor, and were they delivered by a lesser vocalist, they would be found out after a couple of numbers. Likewise some of the guitar riffs would stand out as being a bit suspect were they not shredded by Lofstad. Overall a very solid album brought to life by a fantastic collection of musicians; an anthemic hard rock record ideal for getting pumped for a gig.
